Micrographs : Low Carbon Steel
Low carbon steels (typically less than 0.2wt% carbon) have moderate strength, good ductility and are easy to shape and weld. Two examples are given here. Normalised steels are allowed to cool slowly and therefore have near-equilibrium microstructures.
